Let’s be honest, whatever we desire in life, we do so for the sake of finding happiness. Some believe they can find it in a soulmate. Some believe wealth will bring them happiness. Some believe they can find it by traveling and seeing the world, which technically would require some wealth. Then there are those who enjoy giving to others because it is the right thing to do and because they believe it will bring them happiness.
Are We Lost?
Here’s what bothers me. We can all agree that many of us want more than what we have. We can also agree that there are individuals who have it worse and want the life we currently have. Do you ever wonder why billionaires are still trying to make more money? The idea that billionaires are not content with what they have, sounds ridiculous to us. And yet, those who have nothing to eat, find us to be unreasonable for wanting more. As you can see, it’s all relative.
Today, we are told that if we work hard, hustle, and grind, then we would be successful. Unfortunately, most of it is related to financial success. I understand our need to be financially successful in order to “improve our current situation”. I started blogging because I wanted to share my thoughts with others in hopes of making even a small difference in someone’s life. That doesn’t mean that I could not try to profit from my blogs through donations or advertisements.
What I am trying to say is that it is okay to want more and seek more. It is not okay, however, to think that you have to chase happiness. It is not gained from financial success. True happiness is within you and always has been. You have to enjoy the journey, rather than wait for the destination to make you happy. Focus on improving your health and your mind above all else.
Above All, Remember This
If happiness is in the destination, then what does that mean for people who try really hard to reach their goals but always come up short? Does that mean that they can never be happy. Happiness is in the journey my friends. Find contentment with what you have while you strive for more. Give to those in need. Be grateful and always remember that there are those who wish to take your place. Be grateful and remember that if YOU were in a worse situation, YOU would wish for your current life.
In one of my articles , Five Things to Improve Your Life, I listed five things that can change your life. Not a single one of those things focused on financial gains. Think about it. Would you prefer to live in a world full of wisdom, kindness, love, and care? Or, would you prefer to live in a world focused on financial gains, power, and competitiveness? Do not be part of a world backed by greed. Do your best, and know that it is enough to make you happy, regardless of the outcome.
